The 2020-2021 school year has been one of the weirdest years we have ever lived through. However, with your help and support through all of the chaos and ever-changing rules and regulations, we managed to bring good from a tough situation. Together, we were able to continue to build strong young lives, when most of our lives were put on hold or affected in different ways.
I don’t think it’s an uncommon experience to feel burdened by the current tensions of political, social, and economic changes. For most of us, few areas of our lives remain untouched by the pandemic and all the repercussions that come along with it. I have become weary with the perpetual chaos that swirls around me during this time, and even more than that, I am tired of talking about it.
As Oregonians, we endure a season of gray skies and rainy horizons for an extended period of time. Oftentimes we will have rain from October through April. As a lover of rain, I don’t mind all the overcast days, but there comes a time when I crave feeling the warmth of the sun. April marks the beginning of a significant transition: I, Justin, will be starting my process of transitioning off staff here at SSYO. For the better part of 8 years, I have served on staff in an administrative capacity. I started as a part-time administrative assistant in the summer of 2013 before going full-time the following year. I’ve grown and gained a lot of experience in my time climbing up to the Operations/Administrative Manager position. I’ve been given an incredible amount of responsibility and trust, especially in the last 3 years, and I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to have served here. |
