Hopeful & Optimistic

Dear SSYO Family,

We hope this message finds you all in good health and high spirits. The beginning of each calendar year is an opportunity for us as an SSYO staff to stop and take a look at where things are at the midpoint of our fiscal year. It also is a good time for us to revisit some of our goals and objectives that we set back in the spring of the previous year.
As in life, adjustments and changes are a natural necessity. But, just as important as the changes are, the mentality we have while making those changes and or adjustments is key. This is where hope and optimism come in. We firmly believe looking at everything in front of us through lenses of hope and optimism. This means that no matter what challenges come our way, we’re committed to staying hopeful and optimistic. As you are all aware of, times are not as comfortable financially as they could be. As a matter of fact, they’re more difficult than they’ve been in a while for most people. The same is true here at SSYO. Our income is lower than expected while costs on seemingly everything seem to be continually rising.

So, we have a choice to make as a staff. We can either maintain a hopeful and optimistic mindset and work through the various challenges, or we can choose to be hopeless and pessimistic while we try to figure things out. Which do you think shows the young lives we serve here to be strong and stable? Of course, it’s the first option. Choosing to remain hopeful and optimistic through life’s inevitable twists, turns, and tumbles is what enables us to keep going and not give up. Plus, it keeps things like morale, culture, environment, and energy high and positive. Part of “Building Strong, Young Lives” is exemplified to the students here at SSYO by us as a staff living hopeful and optimistic lives. This doesn’t mean living wishful or unrealistic lives, but lives that show the conscious and intentional decision to stay positive, optimistic, and hopeful. Despite all the current challenges in life, we have nothing but faith in GOD that HE will lead and guide us through these times. Just as HE always faithfully has before.

Thank you all for remaining hopeful and optimistic partners and supporters of the mission here at SSYO. We appreciate each and every one of you. Take care and GOD bless you all!

Sincerely,

Jake Moevao
